Everything was calm on the grounds with the lack of classes. Oneida saw very few people as she sat, kicking around a pebble she had spotted. Vaya was next to her, cleaning his feathers with elegance. She bit another bit from her thumb nail and spit it on the ground. During the past few weeks, as she was beginning to see, she wasn't doing so well with the people. She believed it was because of her lack of speech but maybe it was something more. Either way, the people here didn't seem to warm up to her.
"You should not think so hard on your flaws." Vaya finally spoke, well, "spoke." After so many years, she had adjusted to the fact that Vaya's voice was only in her head. She nodded at his remark with a smile. He seemed to sigh, though, it was difficult for a bird to do.
Oneida looked back at her feet and began to ravage another finger nail on her hand, pondering on what she was doing wrong.

Victor was walking along, Rainy shining behind him in the bright sunlight. Nothing exciting was really happening; classes were out, and most of the kids were in their cliques, babbling away. So far, Victor had only made a few friends; a lot of people just didn't get him. Some were put off by his loud personality, others were intimidated by Rainy, and even then, there were different types- some didn't like how close the two were, some didn't like how powerful she was, some just didn't like her. And of course, if you didn't like Rainy, you were a black dot in Vic's book.
Speaking of his imaginary 'book', Victor had met no shiny gold stars yet. There were quite a few black dots, and an occasional white dot, but definitely no stars. Everyone here was wild and rash and no one was what he wanted. No one was sweet and caring and what he was looking for.
Upon his walking and pondering through the courtyard, he saw Oneida, just sitting there, playing with a pebble. She nodded at the peacock next to her, and Victor just stopped in his tracks. Rainy tilted her head in question, then looked at Oneida. "She's pretty, Vic." She whispered to Vic, her voice resonating. "And her hair's a lovely color~" Vic blushed at Rainy's first comment, then decided to take a chance and walk over to the girl.
"Well, hello there. I'm Victor; just who are you, beautiful?" He crouched down to be eye level with the mysterious girl and grinned.

At first when she heard the voice, she thought it would be directed to some other near her. She then looked up to have her gaze met with a pair of gray eyes. At this very moment, she really wished she could have the ability of speech. She looked to the ground, a flush spreading across her face, thinking of a appropriate way to convey her name.
Vaya, though he was indeed a bird, sent a glare towards Vic. He felt no real desire to speak to him, but if it was to help Oneida, he would do so. "Do you wish for me to speak for you?" he 'asked' but Onieda simply shook her head. He scoffed, as well as a bird could, but it was expected. She was a stubborn girl when it came to needing help.
She looked back up at him with a timid smile. 'Oh, I'm Oneida and I can't speak.' was the thought running through her head accompanied with embarrassment. She pulled out a note pad from one of her pockets along with a pencil. She then scribbled down on the paper, "It's nice to meet you - I am Oneida. I'm sorry, but I can't speak." She handed it to Vic with a smile, hoping for a positive response.

Vic continued to smile at the girl as she go the paper out. He raised an eyebrow as he read it, then rose up as he spoke. "Oneida, is it? Beautiful name." He didn't question her muteness; he had met plenty of odd people over the years, and he knew that many didn't like questioning. Vic sat down next to Oneida, on the opposite side of the bird. He brushed back Oneida's hair softly, tucking it behind her ear. "You've got such a pretty face; you shouldn't hide it."
Rainy, meanwhile, was investigating Vayu. She was examining his feathers, admiring the gorgeous hues of blue and green and gold. "Lovely, lovely..." Some of it was pure, others mixed, but all very very pleasing, cool shades. Rainy, naturally balancing, started to show more shades of red and yellow; it was an automatic thing that happened, simply to offset the cooler colors displayed elsewhere.
[HA HA that's all I can do that's semi-decent.]
